Investigations, Mediation and Conflict Management Computer and Digital Forensics

Computer and Digital Forensics (Unlawful Use of Information

Relais Expert-Conseil's experience with investigations, mediation and conflict management demonstrates the ever-increasing need for complete, integrated and confidential expertise services regarding digital and numerical investigations.

Since 2000, we have seen a growing demand for these services in our investigations and appearances before various legal and administrative tribunals.  Having resorted to sub-contractors in the past, we have, since 2009, acquired an internal department offering this technical expertise allowing us to offer fully integrated and confidential investigations.  This new addition complements our legal, psychological and medical expertise services in order to allow us to complete all mandates entrusted to us.

Among the Information Technology (I.T.) most often used as evidence following investigations, the most common are :

  • information technology (computers, networks, internet, wireless, etc.);
  • social networks (Facebook, MSN MySpace, Twitter, etc.);
  • media storage (USB keys, external hard drives, etc.);
  • ''smart'' phones;
  • digital photo and video cameras;
  • security systems (DVR-cameras AV / access management, etc.);
  • etc.

These technologies are found in all the spheres of our personal lives and, by extension, in our professional lives.  As employers, we must not be surprised if these forms of technology are evermore present in disputes, conflicts and possibly even criminal activities.

Derived from computer forensics, this science involves the strict and documented application of computer investigations and analysis techniques in the interest of finding forensic evidence and present it in a consistent and unequivocal way.  Such evidence may relate to a wide range of illicit uses such as theft of corporate secrets, theft or destruction of intellectual property, fraud, psychological harassment, discrimination, viewing pornography in the workplace, abusive use of online gaming, social networking, Internet, etc.

Our team of experts can trace evidence even when files have been deleted, formatted or encrypted.  We have at our disposal, software and equipment used in law enforcement and computer science laboratories.  Our experts have extensive experience in security and management of confidential investigation files.
