The problems associated with addiction in the workplace are of prime concern today.  The available statistics concerning addiction are alarming.  To name a few, Gallup's survey of 1000 employees indicates that 43% of respondents reported having seen a work colleague who was intoxicated and 17% had witnessed or heard of the use of illegal drugs in the workplace.

Addiction to alcohol, illicit drugs, medication, compulsive gambling and cyberdependance are problems that are becoming increasingly common in the workplace today.  Often managers are poorly equipped when it comes to identifying and managing such situations.
